The Spurs lost to the Phoenix Suns (again) last Sunday, but rebounded nicely to pick up two important wins. De’Aaron Fox shined bright against the Trail Blazers, putting up 37 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists. Our franchise PG has been playing at an All-Star level while Wemby has been out, nursing that calf back to full strength. We also saw the return of Dylan Harper after a 10-game absence; while he looked a bit stiff in Portland, the rookie phenom came back and made a big time impact against the Nuggets on Black Friday.
The headline against the Nuggets? Devin Vassell pouring in 35 points on 7-9 shooting from 3PT range! The 25-year old is rounding into form and has been stepping up with other Spurs out. Plus, Julian Champagnie recorded three straight double-doubles, including 25 points and 10 rebounds against the Nuggets, and Keldon Johnson has continued to be a huge spark off the bench, making an impact with his timely scoring, relentless rebounding, and constant hustle.
This Spurs team is looking DIFFERENT this year, y’all! The maturity is noticeable, the will to win is apparent, and the vibes are high as we wait on the return of our back-to-back Rookies of the Year, Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle. San Antonio heads into the next week with a 13-5 record, good for 3rd in the tough Western Conference.
