I'm Jose Salviati, Editor at the PeachBasket.net, and this is the show where we recap the week that was in the NBA by sharing the only objective NBA power rankings anywhere the stats standouts. That's the best to do it by average in the week. That was. Then we take a look at viral news in the NBA in a segment we call full court press, where we let AI scan the internet for all NBA press, and then we talk about one. Finally, we highlight the marquee matchup for the week to come. We start like we always do, with the only objective overall top 10. NBA power rankings anywhere. You can read more about how we get to these rankings and see the entire list at thePeachBasket.net Let's take a look at the top 10 at the conclusion of week number 14. Now, there were no undefeated teams in week number 14. This is unusual, [00:01:00] and the Minnesota Timberwolves were the only team to go winless. At oh and two, we'll talk about what that cost them in the rankings while the Miami heat slid out of the top 10 from number nine to number 11. After two and two week we start at number 10 where the New York Knicks make another appearance. They've been in and out of the top 10 all season long. The New York Knicks enter this week after two in one week, jumping into the rankings on the back of a solid stretch of play. New York might be back. Number nine are the Minnesota Timberwolves. We talked about them just a bit ago. They were the only team that didn't win a game this week. They were oh and two, the only team without a win in week 14, and it cost 'em, they drop to number nine from number seven last week. The number eight team of the Toronto Raptors. They climb a couple of spots after a positive week showing enough consistency to stay comfortably in the top. 10 Things are going good in Toronto. Certainly a lot better than. I would've thought that's a pretty good [00:02:00] team. Now, speaking of pretty good teams, number seven are the Denver Nuggets. Denver's close to getting the Kohl Yoki back, and they certainly need 'em. They were two and two in week number 14, and it costs them three spots. They drop from number four to number seven. Number six are the Boston Celtics. They slip a bit from last week's. Number five spot after an uneven showing. We talked a little bit about it. On the chalk clock Pod today was Steve Pello about how their loss to Cleveland was a win for the Boston Celtics, but it still counts as a loss in the record books. So they do dip from number five to number six. The new number five team, or the Phoenix Suns, they move up from number eight backing up their top tier offense with just enough winning results to nudge them past Boston and a few others. The number 14. Also move up from number seven. These are the Houston Rockets. They continue their steady rise, converting efficient play on both ends [00:03:00] with another week of upward movement. It's been an up and down season for Houston, at least in terms of our rankings. But they have been. Consistently in the top 10, and they certainly deserve to be there. Another team that deserves to be here are the San Antonio Spurs. They come in number three, same as last week. They hold firm delivering another solid week and keep them within striking distance of the top two teams. The number two team are the Detroit Pistons. They drop from number one. After a slightly less convincing week, they're still the best team in the east undeniably, and they are just a razor thin margin away from the number one team, and that is the Oklahoma City Thunder. They move up from number two to number one this week to claim the top spot. But. Honestly in our rankings, it is one in one, a Detroit and Oklahoma City, but OKC takes the crown in week number 14. These are the best to do it by average in week number 14 of the 20 25 26 NBA season. These are the best by average in shooting rebounds, assists, block steals points. End game score. For week number 14, we start with the best score and he plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder. That Shaa Gil, just Alexander. He had three games. And averaged an NBA best 39 points to lead everyone. Max Christie, the Dallas Maverick also played in three games and he led everyone with 5.73 point field goals made, including a really good game against his former team, Ali Lakers, and a loss. Shea Gils Alexander also led everyone with 15 field goals made. When it comes to rebounding, Jalen Johnson was the king of the boards. He led everyone with 16.3 rebounds [00:05:00] over his three games played, and also 13 defensive rebounds over the same three games played while Marvin Bagley the third, played one game, pulled down seven offensive rebounds to lead the association. John Morant, who looks to be on his way out in Memphis, played two games and averaged 12.5 assists to lead everyone. In week 14, there were four players to average, three blocks in week 14. That includes Colin Marie Boyles, Rudy Colbert, miles Turner, and Robert Williams, but only Gobert and Turner played two games. The other two only played one. So they get the shout out for their three blocks. On average in week 14, Aaron Wiggins played one game, had five steals. That's quite a good game defensively that led everyone. In week number 14 and his teammate, Shay Gil Des Alexander, led everyone with this game score for week number 14 of 35.2. A really [00:06:00] good game score for a really good player. Looking ahead to week number 15, the best matchup is in the West, where the San Antonio spurs ~traveled to the Houston. They ~travel to Houston to take on the rockets in a Texas size battle. The Spurs are doing all they can to inch closer to the top spot in the west, and a big road wind will certainly help, but I imagine the rockets who are playing good basketball will have other ideas. Should be a good matchup in the West in week number 15. Now we'll end with a segment we call Full Core Press, where we ask AI for its thoughts on viral trending NBA press news as we head into week 15. And it came up with some good ones, as it always does. John Morant Dre Talk, we talked a little bit about that Kawai and the resurgent clippers. Good conversation. Again, we talked about that in the Shock Clock pod. It also brought up this quirky all fives stat that Igor Demmon recorded not too long ago. Five field goals, five threes, five defensive rebounds, five total rebounds, and five assists. Quirky's not the right word, man. That's just silly to count. [00:07:00] Five total rebounds and five defensive rebounds, I think is cheating. Gimme, five assists, five rebounds, five steals. Five blocks and yeah, maybe five threes and no turnovers. Then you got yourself something. But apparently it's the first time we've ever seen that all five stat line, they're calling it yeah, an all five stat line. I think high five would be better. Maybe a super cinco, but whatever. Somebody in the MBA stats department was bored, I think. So I wanna focus on John Morant instead. It's an interesting story. Morant is only 26 years old. And you'd expect someone that age to be reaching their peak. But for Marant, who was not too long ago, a possible face of the NBA and long been the face of the grizzlies. The stories tell a different number or rather a different story. In the 20 25, 26 season, Marant is averaging four points less a game, shooting a career worse than two point percentage, three [00:08:00] point percentage, and effective field goal percentage. Oddly, he's averaging a career best 90% from the line. But worse, he seems to have worn out his welcome in Memphis. Now we know 'cause he just told us and showed us that he has a Grizzlies tattoo. We know he says he is loyal, but it isn't up to him. The Grizzlies have a decision to make in the seven seasons. They have employed Marette, they've made the playoffs four times losing in the first round. Three of those times. The grizzlies and Morans, in a way have been long on potential, but short on results. The question now becomes, is there a market for a player like John Marin? He's skilled offensively to be sure, but again, he's having a bad season. Is it the start of the decline? Maybe a change of scenery is gonna help him. That's no doubt what some teams are thinking. The big question though, isn't his scoring, it's his defense or lack thereof. [00:09:00] Any team that takes him on is going to have a good defensive team around him. In the right situation, John Morant might be able to flourish. Sad to say that his time and his opportunity to flourish in Memphis looks to be coming to an end. That's it. Week number 14 of the 20 25 26 NBA season is in the books.
