Run it Back! NBA Week in Review - Week 11
===
Jose: [00:00:00] Week 11 of the 2024 25 NBA season is over, which means it's time to run it back. This is Run It Back, NBA week in review. I'm Jose Salviati, editor at thePeachBasket.Net, and this is the show where we recap the week that was in the NBA and then highlight the marquee matchup for the week to come. We start like we always do with the only objective overall.
top 10 NBA power rankings anywhere. You can read more about how we get to these rankings and see the entire list at thePeachBasket.net. Let's take a look at the top 10 at the conclusion of week number 11. Now dropping out of the top 10 this week, after a rough 0 3 week are the Dallas Mavericks. They move from number 9 to number 12.
Let's see what team moves back to the elite top 10 after week number 11. At number 10 are the team with arguably the best player in the Association, no argument for me. Those are the Denver [00:01:00] Nuggets. They went 3 1 in week 11 to hold on to the number 10 spot for the second week in a row. Moving up to number 9 are the Golden State Warriors.
They enjoyed a 2 1 week in week 11 and moved back into the top 10 as rumors fly that they may be in the market for a disgruntled star out of Miami. More on that later. The Orlando Magic are at number eight, they were two and one this past week, and are eighth for the second week in a row. The Los Angeles Clippers were two and two, and welcome back Kawhi Leonard in week 11.
They hang on to the number seven spot for the second week in a row. Number six belongs to New York, the Knicks were 500 at two and two in week 11 . But that was enough to hold on to the number six spot. The Memphis Grizzlies have been holding steady at number five now for five straight weeks. They were one and three and we'll have to do better than that in week number 12 to stay in the [00:02:00] top five.
Number four that's Rockets territory. The Houston Rockets were one and two this past week and enjoy the view from the number four spot for the sixth. week in a row. The Boston Celtics were three and one in week 11, a good week to be sure, but not good enough to move up from number three. They continue to look up to the top two teams now for the fourth week in a row.
The best team in the West are the Oklahoma City Thunder. They were perfect in week 11 at 4 0 and are edging closer to that top spot, but for now they continue to look up. To number one. And who do they look up to? The best team in the East, of course. And the best in the Association. Overall, that is once again, the Cleveland Cavaliers.
They were also perfect at 3 0 in week 11, are the first team to 30 wins, and enjoy the view from the top for the eighth week in a row. That's the objective top 10 list [00:03:00] for week number 11. If you want to see where all 30 teams land this week, please visit thePeachBasket.net. Now let's shift our focus to the players.
These are the best to do it by average. In week 11 of the 2024 25 NBA season. These are the best by average in shooting, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals, points, and game score.
The best score in week number 11 is the best player in the game. Nikola Jokic averaged 36. 5 points per game over his four games played this week. That includes two masterclass performances against Victor Wembenyama and the San Antonio Spurs. The top sniper in Week 11 was C. J. McCullough of the New Orleans Pelicans.
C. J. averaged 6. 3 three point field goals made over his three games played. Joker was the best shooter, averaging 14 midfield goals over his four games played. Carl Anthony Towns continues to look very comfortable in New York. He led his Knicks and everyone else, [00:04:00] averaging 18 rebounds in Week 11. over his four games played.
The top offensive rebounder was Domantas Sabonis. The Sacramento Kings player pulled down 6. 3 offensive boards in three games played. Cat was the top defensive rebounder at 13. 8. Now it's been a tough season in Toronto, but Emmanuel Quickley was a bright spot this past week. He averaged 13 assists over his two games played in week 11 to lead in the Speaking of tough seasons, John Collins of the Utah Jazz he was the best rim protector despite that rough season for the Jazz.
He only played one game in Week 11, but he made it count. He averaged three blocks, which was enough to lead the Association. The top thief was Kelly Oubre, Jr. He also only played once, but he also made it count in Week 11. He had eight steals for the 76ers in his one game, which led Finally, the top game score, which takes into account every statistical category in an NBA [00:05:00] game, goes to Nikola Jokic in week 11.
His game score of 35. 2 over four games played is just flat out incredible. Now looking ahead to week number 12, we have a few interesting inter conference games to watch. First up on Sunday, January 5th, the Boston Celtics travel to OKC to meet the Hot Dogs. Oklahoma City Thunder who are riding a four game winning streak.
Then on Tuesday, January 7th, the Celtics travel to Denver to take on the Nuggets. That's a rough stretch for the defending world champions. Now not to be outdone, the Cleveland Cavaliers will host OKC Thunder on Wednesday, January 8th in a game between the top two teams in the Association. Week 12 is going to be a great week of NBA basketball.
Now as we look ahead to week 12, the biggest news, thankfully, not the biggest games, but the biggest news. Is on the court and that's always good to see. The top three teams in thePeachBasket's Objective NBA Power Rankings will play each other, as we just outlined, with a chance to [00:06:00] see which one is the best.
The Thunder are riding an impressive franchise best winning streak. The Cavaliers have lost only four times through the first 11 weeks of the season. And the Boston Celtics they're the Defending Champions. Watching both Eastern Conference teams take on the hottest team in the Western Conference is why we watch NBA basketball.
Of course, there is some trade news, and it has been dominating NBA news this past week, and that is, of course, the situation in Miami. Personally, I think it's sad, and it all happened quickly, culminating with a really bad loss for the Heat at the end of this week, at home, to the then 7 win Utah Jazz.
Jimmy Butler will not end the season in Miami, most likely, so which team will take a chance on him? Who knows? If you look at what Vegas is saying they think the odds on favorite are the Golden State Warriors. We talked about that earlier Other sites are saying [00:07:00] it's the Nuggets, the Grizzlies, the Rockets, or the Magic. In short, as is normally the case with these things, no one knows.
It's possible he just ends the season with Miami and Pat Riley deals with this in the offseason. Again, nobody knows. All we know for certain is this. It's a bad look for Jimmy Butler and an unfortunate situation all around for the NBA. I'm glad . that there are some good games to distract us from that news.
But when it happens, if it happens, of course, that's all we're going to talk about. But that's it. Week 11 of the 2024 25 NBA season is in the books. Join us again next week after week number 12 when we once again run it back.
